10 Year Anniversary

Writer: dacotafresillidacotafresilli

Wow! I can't believe it has already been 10 years since I started DacotaG.com . Like anything in life, the hardest thing to do is start something new. Starting this website was no exception.

I was a senior in college and I had 3 artists that were brave enough to trust me with their music (shout out to Goody, Aaron Patterson and Bry). At the time, my skills were novice at best. I tried my best to emulate the mixers that I looked up to like Dave Pensado and Young Guru (whom I had the pleasure of meeting both that same year). I was nearing my graduation date at Middle Tennessee State University and I decided it was time to put myself out there more.

For the first 6 months I sourced mixing jobs any place that I possibly could. That meant spreading the word by mouth and searching keywords on social media networks like Facebook and Twittter / X (#mixngandmastering etc.). Believe it or not, this method actually led me to mix songs for artists like Drag-On of the Ruff Ryders. As well as many other independent artists that were in the beginning stages of their careers as I was.

Flash forward 10 years and I've had the privilege of mixing over 700 songs for artist from New York to South Korea. I've collaborated with artists in places like Ireland, Austria and Mongolia. Thank you to every single artist and producer that has trusted me with their art, it truly means the world. It takes a lot of faith to trust someone that you have never met with something as delicate as your art and I don't take that for granted.

To commemorate year 10 I am proposing a challenge. To not only myself, but to all of my collaborators. One month - 50 songs. For the entire month of March I'm going to be taking down the normal services page and introducing a system for Offer Based Services. For the entire month you can fill out the form and make an offer for your songs or projects. The only stipulation is that you must confirm the session within the month of March.

Thank you for 10 incredible years and cheers to 10 more.

Best wishes,

Dacota
